In 1981, when Proprietor Anthony von Mandl first looked out across the wild, untamed Okanagan Valley, he felt a profound calling: the audacious dream that this landscape of pristine beauty and opulent bounty could produce wines to stand alongside the world’s finest. Bringing that vision to life required immense risk and resilience—from pioneering unproven vineyards to carving a lasting sanctuary out of volcanic rock.
Today, that vision is realized as Canada’s most awarded winery. The family’s journey remains an uncompromising pursuit to elevate their craft and leave this extraordinary valley better than it was found. Every time a glass is poured, Mission Hill’s life’s work is shared, perpetually building an unforgettable legacy of discovery—one vintage at a time.
A Sense of Place
There is a moment, just as you pass beneath the contemporary stone arches of Mission Hill Family Estate, when the pace of the world falls away. Perched high above West Kelowna, with vineyard rows descending toward the Okanagan Lake, Mission Hill is a sanctuary devoted to wine, architecture, and the land.
Every half-hour, four antique bronze bells cast in Annecy, France, ring out from the estate’s iconic 12-storey bell tower, setting the rhythm of the valley.
One of the World’s Most Distinctive Wine Regions

Shaped over 500 million years by volcanic activity and successive glacial periods, the valley is one of the most geologically diverse wine regions in the world. From lake-moderated slopes in the north to the sun-drenched, desert-edged vineyards of the south, its varied soils, elevations, and microclimates create wines of remarkable precision, structure, and sense of place.
Oculus stands as its pinnacle, the estate’s icon wine. A Bordeaux-style blend of poise, structure, and precision, this wine earned a perfect 100-point score, the first red wine in Canada to do so. A benchmark for what Canadian wine can achieve.
Enduring Expression

From tasting to table, Mission Hill Family Estate reveals itself with clarity and intent. In the tasting room, wines shaped by ancient glacial soils and volcanic rock speak to the depth of the Okanagan.
At The Terrace Restaurant, Executive Chef Patrick Gayler draws from the estate’s gardens, beehives, and local farming partners to compose seasonal lunch and dinner menus that are deeply rooted in the bounty of the Okanagan Valley.
